Everything about choosing, brewing and blending — and what's coming next.
When can I order?
Very soon. This is a sneak peek of the shop while we finish the last chapters — you can browse every tale and build blends on the blending table now, and ordering opens shortly.
How do I choose a tea?
Start with the book that suits the moment: Juniper Gale's black teas for the morning, Tobias the badger's caffeine-free herbals for the afternoon, or Ambrose the fox's cups for the evening. Then glance at each chapter's rating (caffeine, what it's good for and how it tastes), and open a chapter to read its story and see exactly what's in the jar.
What does the rating on each tea mean?
Caffeine shows none, low, medium or high, based on the ingredients. Good for names the moments and traditions a blend is enjoyed for — winding down, a morning lift, after dinner. Tastes is the main flavour of the cup. It's a guide to choosing, not a health claim.
How does the blending table work?
Pick up to 6 ingredients and slide to set each one's share. The blend always adds up to exactly 100%, and strong ingredients have a sensible maximum (lavender, for instance, tops out at 15%). Caffeine, flavour, cautions and price update as you go, and you can save your blend on this device for launch day.
How many cups are in a pouch?
Roughly 50 g makes about 20 cups, 100 g makes about 40 cups, 250 g makes about 100 cups — based on about 2.5 g of leaf per 250 ml cup.
How should I brew loose-leaf tea?
Every tale has its own brew card with water temperature, amount and steeping time. As a rule of thumb: black and herbal teas like freshly boiled water and 3–7 minutes; green teas prefer about 80°C and 2–3 minutes. Taste as you go — a minute either way changes the story.
How do I store my tea?
Keep it sealed in its pouch or an airtight tin, somewhere cool, dry and dark, away from strong smells like coffee and spices. Loose leaf is at its best within about a year.
Are your teas organic?
Many of them are. A tale says “Organic” on its page when the blend is certified organic.
I have an allergy or I'm pregnant — which teas are right for me?
Every tale lists its full ingredients, what it contains (for example caffeine, liquorice or daisy-family flowers), any “may contain traces of” statement and specific cautions. Read more on our wellbeing & allergens page, and check with your healthcare professional if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or managing a health condition.
Can tea help me sleep or lose weight?
Our teas are foods, not medicines. The “Good for” labels describe the moments and traditions each blend is enjoyed for — a caffeine-free evening cup, a flavourful sugar-free swap — rather than promising a health outcome.
Are the product pictures real photos?
The tea pictures are images made from photographs of each actual blend, shown in our house style so you can see what's in the jar. The covers are storybook illustrations. Natural ingredients vary a little from batch to batch.
What does shipping cost?
Australia-wide delivery is a flat $9.95, and free on orders over $60.00. See shipping & returns.
