Cornflower petals
Centaurea cyanus
Ragged, electric-blue petals that scatter through a blend like confetti. They taste of very little, just a soft, grassy sweetness, but they make any jar look like a summer meadow.

Why we love cornflower petals
A flash of true blue
Few dried flowers keep such a vivid blue, so a pinch of cornflower brightens any blend in the jar.
Gentle on flavour
Cornflower's soft, faintly sweet taste lets it add colour without changing the character of the cup.
Naturally caffeine-free
Cornflower contains no caffeine, so it suits evening herbals as well as Earl Grey and Lady Grey styles.
Good to know
Flags: Daisy family.
Contains daisy-family flowers — avoid if you are allergic to ragweed, chrysanthemums or marigolds.
Cornflowers once grew wild among Europe's fields of grain, which gave the plant its name. Floral garlands found in Tutankhamun's tomb included cornflowers, and in England the bloom has long been known as bachelor's button, once worn in buttonholes by young men in love. Today its petals brighten many Earl Grey and Lady Grey-style blends.
