Lavender flowers
Lavandula angustifolia
Plump, dusk-blue buds whose perfume escapes the moment the jar opens. Potent and faintly camphor-sweet, so a pinch is plenty.

Why we love lavender flowers
A fragrant evening ritual
A pinch of lavender turns an ordinary cup into a slow, perfumed pause at the end of the day.
A little goes a long way
Its perfume is powerful, so a small amount lifts a blend without tipping it into soap territory.
Naturally caffeine-free
Lavender contains no caffeine and sits happily alongside chamomile, rose and lemon balm.
Good to know
No special cautions for most people in normal tea amounts.
Lavender is native to the sunny, rocky hills of the Mediterranean. Romans scented their baths and linen with it, and its name is often linked to the Latin lavare, 'to wash'. Its purple rows now stretch across Provence, the English countryside and north-east Tasmania, where lavender has been farmed since the 1920s.
