Spearmint leaves
Mentha spicata
Crumbled leaves in sage and olive green with a sweet, fresh garden-mint scent. Softer and sweeter than peppermint, spearmint makes a gentle, rounded cup on its own and freshens floral and green blends.

Why we love spearmint leaves
Sweet garden mint
Spearmint is softer and sweeter than peppermint, the friendly mint of summer gardens and Sunday-roast mint sauce.
Made for mint tea
It's the mint of North African mint tea, poured sweet and hot with green tea, and it's lovely iced as well.
Naturally caffeine-free
Spearmint contains no caffeine, so it's a refreshing choice from lunch through to late evening.
Good to know
No special cautions for most people in normal tea amounts.
Spearmint is native to the Mediterranean and western Asia, and takes its botanical name, spicata, from its spikes of flowers. Greeks and Romans scented their tables with it, and it later spread through monastery and kitchen gardens across Europe. In Morocco, spearmint steeped with gunpowder green tea and sugar is a daily act of hospitality.
